Portland is cool. Wedding is keeping us busy. Just 60 days left! School is out in June...last quarter, phhheeeewwwww!
Other than that...home should be painted soon.
I am actively on Face Book if you can add me.
I am flying to the SF Bay the 15th-18th for a friend's wedding that weekend.
If anything is up...I am down to find stuff to do.
Plan on likely going to Club Gossip on Saturday night.
Best,

| | Bizarre Love Triangle Richard X Mix | ] | Deb and I got engaged officially. Yes, it is about time to likely many of you, but it was the right time for us to. I had the ring I wanted, we are living in our new location and our home. Just felt the right time to get into fiance mode.
I was going to wait for Disneyland, trip coming up next week...but honestly I couldnt think of a better time than the lucky 7's date. It also was not in S. Ca, but in a our little liberal onclave with beauty and a feeling of home around us. Now we can go on vaction engaged.
All was very lovely. The weather was awesome. I had my chance to be vulnerable on one knee in a symbolic location on a bench by the water and spring water cooridor in Sellwood area of Portland. A place we can visit many more times in our lives and remember.
After the official engagement and getting lots of kisses, I went on the Nite Ride throughout Portland with my good friend Steve.
The sunset was lovely off the bridges and over 800 people showed up for the ride of 15 miles starting at the Portland bike station near the waterfront. Mostly flat, through tons of parks, and with frequent stops for free candy in bowls, water, artsy bikey films, and a disco in a parking lot.
Yes. This place is a alternate reality. I dont know how it formed but I love it beyond any imaginable explanation. I think there is some kind of a Vortex here. Explains why we found it. What are my cities goals with car culture? 20% of cars off the road by 2020. Bold, but needed.
Plan to set the date likely on our 10 yrs of meeting one-another, July 3rd 2009. Allows 2 yrs of getting through some, or most/to almost all of school.
Look forward to seeing friends on Saturday at Satori for New Wave Prom night! Dress up!
101 degrees expected today. Off on bike to run errands before extreme heat hits...

| Sold-did-it! |
[Apr. 5th, 2007|07:21 pm] |
The little old gold old man Honda has met it's new owner in Washington.
I kicked down a grand to help cover nearly 1/2 our electrical upgrades. That felt good to be able to do.
I looked at a cool used clasic Schwinn that my future bro and law/realesate agent put some blood and sweat into. He offered it at $100. Actually a decent deal for a classic 3 spd Schwinn. I might sleep on the idea of getting it to take to the bay area for my visits. I got my own killer Schwinn for here.
Deb has been very post menstrual cranky with achey belly. I was kind of hoping for more excitement when I gave her a grand after selling the car off...but she seemed at least content.
I took her to the sushi place as I had envisioned doing upon my "1 less car" goal.
we walked about Sellwood, a fabulous money magazine voted "best neighborhood" in Portland for about an hr after yummy sushi eats. The Spring water trail that runs by Sellwood (what a view!!) is easily accesible by bike in the Woodstock area we have our home in. Woodstock, I am almost certain, will become the next Sellwood... It is only a 25 min bike ride to the Sellwood area, has mixed housing, excellent schools and a wonderful business district that keeps getting nicer. Lots of young people are buying in and fixing the places up nice. The park is arguably as nice or better than the one in Sellwood. The sushi place by our place isnt half bad or all that much lower in greatness than Saburo's in Sellwood to.
I think so many people I am friends with in the bay area would absolutely poop themselves over Portland.
If it only had New Wave City...it would be Heaven. Guess something like that might be my job. |

| Sale of car didnt work out |
[Mar. 30th, 2007|03:48 pm] |
I had a guy all ready to buy the Honda. All day I tried to get ahold of the Washington DMV to make sure we handle the title OK. He is from Washington and came 2 hrs away to buy it.
When he called this afternoon to give me the official "yes I am interested in buying it"...he said that his credit union could only give him a Cashier's Check. (???!!)
I told him I need cash. Then, we started talking some more and I thought "well, we could just go to the bank I have and deposit your cashier's check, assuming that woudl be secure?"
I let him know that i woudl call the Washington DMV to make sure we do the title transfer properly so it is out of name and in his. We planned ot meet 2 hrs later at my bank nearby the new home.
Well I called the Washington DMV and NEVER got ahold of a live person. Tried nearly 6 times waiting online and using my minutes up ont he cell phone. no one ever answerd.
Next, I called my bank and they basically told me that having the cashier's check put in my account was NOT secure. 1. the person could just cancel the check. 2. It could be fraudulent from the get go.
I tried to contact the gentlemen but since he didnt have a cell phone I could only leave messages with his friend in town he was staying with.
I rushed over to the bank to meet him with the bas news. I was very diplomatic about the whole non secure check thing, but made it clear that I do need to accept cash only despite the fact that I didnt posess concern in relation to HIM as a PERSON. Still...I mean it IS 3k.
Then I told him about my troubles with the DMV and lack of staff to answer phones so I am unsure of transfering. Granted, I mean on my end I would be covered...HE might have Washington issues...but as far as CA would be concerned and would have sent my release and been totally cool.
Obviously it comes to the $$. I do not want to be screwed. I do not really know him.
I let him know we need ot varify with his DMV and settle the transaction in cash. If I need ot wait until it is a good time for him...that si cool...it can be a week from now.
I know I need to sell this car so I can get other finances more secure and have less to deal with (covering the title transfer on the GTI of over $200 which includes the smog OR deal called DEQ & OR title, and give Deb some cash toward the electrical work on the home)...but that whole credit union-- and cannot get cash-- with only a cashier's check to offer thing just makes me feel uneasy, you know?
Hope he doesnt back out and is willing to drive back 2 hrs to Portland and buy it soon. I think I made a really good decision. The bank caused me enough fear.
On a lighter note...we are having sushi at the local place. Saburos is in the Sellwood area nd rocks my ass off..but the wait there is like 2 hrs if you are not at the door when the open at 5pm. It is THAT good. Best dam sushi I ever had.
Deborah is hungy so I think we will venture to the local joint and see how it compares. No need to make her ultra cranky. I love the fact that it is a less than 10 minute walk from our front door. This neighborhood is so awesome. Sushi down the street, the bank, library, community center, access to the bus line outside, Safeway, yummy mexican food, pet stores...etc...all in a 10 minute walk.
We done good. : )
Tomorrow I work, come home and organize cds...Sunday lots of home chores relating to unpacking.
I know Deb is likely disappointed the car didnt sell. I am to, even though it was a little bit sentimental. Crossing the fingers he doesnt say ney after returning to Washington. |

| Early May back to the Bay |
[Mar. 29th, 2007|06:36 am] |
It has been confirmed that my Mom is coming to San Jose for Doctor visits from her home in Baja Mexico. She has Lupus. It has been a condition of hers for a while. Seeing she will be around for about a week, I put a request to my work for the week off. Luckily I was very direct with my manager that I would be in the bay area often, sometimes monthly...so it is likely to be less a surprise when these pretty frequent trips come up. Granted, when less is happening, I will take longer periods before a visit. This trip has several factors...
1. See Mom during her Doc visits, & my uncle's long overdue memorial also that week 2. Morrissey at either Stockton or Oaktown 3. DJ New Wave City (them is "secret" at this point) 4. DJ Satori (some cool dark 80's++...Xymox, Tribantura, Mesh, DM, Faint, much more) 5. I get hrs at the prior lead generating job, like last visit (yay!)
Deb obviously cannot be leaving for such trips as she is teaching. Right now during her spring break while I am working she is doing house stuff. I cannot even fathom her blinding speed! She has already unpacked some 89% of our stuff in only 3 weeks, chopped a Wysteria plant, scheduled an electrician coming in today to add plugs and put in outdoor auto flood lights, installed flourescent lighting everywhere in the home, etc etc etc.
I am looking into school. MT Hood has a fab radio program. i will likely take the Max train to the school as it is in the Gresham area some 30 min drive. I can bike to Max and jump on the transit.
The PSU (KPSU) radio station is laggin in efforts to make my show happen. They are flakey as fuck. The volunteer coordinator is apparently very new/green and doesnt ever respond to my requests for a 1 on 1 to get me going. weeks will go by, I *will* FINALLY get a response...and what do you know...I am visiting for 4-8 days in San Jose! Cannot come in at "that" time. Big loss for them, not to toot my horn...but hell, I did help put KSCU on the map to one degree or the other, added a lot of vibrancy/variation on programming...they to could get a nice bump in listenership. I like doing something in the community to. I could still podcast & webstream, but also support the scene here on a station that is connected with PDX.
I am not in a position with so much going on to really do the on line radio thing totally on my own. I may look into flying a buddy to help get that started. Would be worth the skill training and set up, for sure.
well, I might be selling the Honda. I have this 87 Civic DX that I bought off Gramma when my Grandfather passed on. Only owned for about 1 yr. 45k on the engine, 90k on the entire chassis since it was primarily a motorhome tow car. Runs like a top. The $3300 would really be nice to have right now though. It is 3 grand to get the electrical, done by top notch peeps, on the home. I could give something to Deb to help out with the elctrical, get my GTI registered and transfered that has been in no state title limbo in the garage for months since the move, get a cheap bike for the bay area visits, fix the Sprint Turbo in the bay area at gramma's, pay auto insurance...and save a few hundred to.
Notice how most bills are home and car? At least the home is an investment, and write off. The cars...give nothing. I have to say...being car free would be smart...but I am not sure if I am ready to make the move...not just yet at least. Car light would be a start. |

[Dec. 31st, 2006|01:09 pm] |
It is on! We orig got pre approved and even made a low offer on a cute 1952 Post War PDX Cottage in a very cool neighborhood. Hardwoods. 2 bed/1 bth, EXCELLENT hood near bus line, library, grocery, bank, and a full business district. No response, counter offer, simply denied as too low to work with. I researched and found a kick ass loan through ACORN. No PMI. No Money Down. Fixed 6% 30 yr loan. After the (required) classes are done in 2 weeks and we have the approval letter, if that home is still avail we will make a higher yet appropriate offer so we can hopefully get a response. We saved about $200 a month just by finding the killer loan. :) We coudl very feasibly afford the home as it is only $500 more than our rent right now. Will be cool before I secure a job. We will just be cautious with spending. As disciplined as we are I am not too concerned even though the process of buying a home is a adventure and can be stressful. |

| Moving! |
[Jul. 31st, 2006|10:38 am] |
In only 4 weeks I am moving out of state, to Portland Oregon. Joining my best friend from high school and the clubbing days of One Step Beyond and Vortex, as well as family, and simply start a new life.
This is a major shift for me, although I know many of you have probably already heard me talk about my wanting to move to PDX.
I plan to support synthpop still. It is such a big part of who I am, and a passion for me. The show One Vortex Beyond will be available on line. I will keep you posted here, and my site www.onevortexbeyond.com
For the next 4 weeks, join me on KSCU 1-4pm.
There is a club event I am in the process of working on doing monthly, flying out to the south bay a few days per month.
Thanks to my friends for being so supportive over the years. I would write a ton, but moving takes a lot of time. Out of state I have learned is time consuming. Right now I am tackling old papers and files. Not fun.
I will miss friends in the bay area, many of you I see weekly at clubs and what not.
Please party with me this week for 2 fab events... Satori Tues, Atomic Thurs.
